Kalyn's battle
Ever since before the first day of school this year, Kalyn has been extremely upset about going to school. Most nights she is in tears, crying, saying over and over that she doesn't want to go to school. She just wants to stay home. We have asked her repeatedly what is wrong, if something has happened, etc to try to find out what is going on with her. She can't explain it. All she can do is cry and worry about going. For those of you who know Kalyn, this is not normal. She normally loves school, her teachers, her friends and has never given us a moments trouble about going. If Kalyn ever said she did not want to go to school, then we knew she was sick. But not this time. She is absolutely a nervous wreck. Steven and I have exhausted every attempt and avenue we know to try to find out what is the matter. We have come to the conclusion that it is a spiritual attack on her. Most of you know and remember that she was prophesied over not long after she was born that she was "of God" and would "do great and miraculous things in Jesus' name". Steven and I have known it from the start. We reinforce this to her all the time, so I think the devil is trying to control one small aspect of her life. If he can make her afraid of 1 small thing, then that can escalate into bigger things and cause her to doubt almost everything she has been taught. One night this week, she was having a bad time. It always starts around bedtime. She was crying not wanting to go to school, so I stopped everything, turned TV off and just held her and began praying over her out loud. All she could do was sob uncontrollably. The entire time I prayed, she cried so hard , she shook. I just kept saying that she belonged to God, His angels would protect her." He has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love and of sound mind." We believe, as parents of an annointed daughter, that our battles are just beginning. Keep her in your prayers.

Primary Mini Camp
This was Kalyn's first year to go to youth camp. I tried to get her to go last year but she did not want to go at all. This year was a different story. She was excited and looked forward to it for weeks. It was amazing to see the difference in her attitude. God is truly blessing us with a wonderful daughter. I am so glad that she had a great time. She had a hard time at bedtime for a couple of nights. I told her she would never have to go without me again. I felt terrible about that, but I know that her counselor, Ms. Christie did an awesome job with 8 girls in her cabin by herself. We were blessed to have her. These pictures were taken on Monday, the day I dropped Kalyn off, the first day of camp.

Fishing with Poppaw
One of our favorite past times is fishing with my dad. Kalyn and I love it. We really like to go out on the boat. A few days before these pictures were made, we went fishing from the boat and Kalyn caught the biggest fish. Of course, it never occurred to me to snap pictures. So here we are, a few days later, fishing from the bank at Jackson County Park. Kalyn was the only one who caught a fish! Even though we like to fish, we are still girly girls at heart. Daddy has to bait our hooks and take off the fish. Kalyn has just this year gotten brave enough to hand Dad the crickets out of the container.

Mrs. Manning did a great job teaching those kids this year. We have been very blessed with awesome teachers for Kalyn. It's hard to believe we now have a third grader! Third grade seems so much older and mature.

13th Anniversary
Steven and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary on May 3rd. WHEW!!!! We made it!!! Steven planned a special evening for us all by himself. He did a great job. We spent the night in Chattanooga at The Read House (Sheraton). It was beautiful. He even splurged on valet parking. You should have seen him when the young man asked if he could help with our luggage. Steven was the ultimate redneck; he got out of the car carrying a cooler in one hand and a pair of boots in the other. I couldn't help but laugh. I'm sure the men had a big laugh once we were out of earshot. We had dinner at the Murder Mystery Theatre. I have often talked of wanting to go. We had alot of fun. The setting was at a 20 year high school reunion so we fit right in. We even sat with another couple who were celebrating their 13th anniversary also. We enjoyed every minute of the trip. I am so proud of Steven for thinking enough of me to plan an entire trip.
